Castell d’Or has recently obtained the JAS (Japanese Agricultural Standards) certification, the mandatory standard for exporting organic products to Japan. This certification guarantees that the wines meet strict standards of quality, food safety, and traceability, in line with the demands of the Japanese market.
After a rigorous accreditation process, Castell d’Or receives a certification that will allow it to market its organic products in a market characterized by high demands, sophistication, and a strong appreciation for quality wines. The JAS seal certifies the strict control criteria applied by Castell d’Or throughout the production process, from vineyard cultivation to winemaking, bottling, and labeling. These standards ensure transparency, product authenticity, and compliance with current Japanese regulations.
The JAS standards were established in 2000, based on the Guidelines for the Production, Processing, Labeling, and Marketing of Organically Produced Foods adopted by the Codex Alimentarius Commission.
“Obtaining this certification is an important milestone for Castell d’Or, as it allows our products made under strict ecological parameters to be exported to the Japanese market with all the required guarantees,” explains Miriam Güell, Quality Manager at Castell d’Or.
In the case of organic wines, the JAS Organic certification ensures that the grapes and production processes follow sustainable practices and strict environmental criteria, aligned with the values of the Japanese consumer, who is increasingly concerned with sustainability and the quality of the products they consume.
Obtaining the JAS certification strengthens Castell d’Or’s international positioning, providing a high level of trust, prestige, and access to one of the world’s most demanding and valued markets. This achievement consolidates the company’s strategy to promote Catalan wines globally, offering products that combine tradition, innovation, and sustainability.
Currently, Castell d’Or markets several brands in the Japanese market, including Castell d’Or, Castell de la Comanda, Cossetània, Pupitre, Flama d’Or, and Arboç1919, among others. Japan is a strategic market for Castell d’Or, where its products are highly valued, as reflected by the excellent results achieved over the years at the Women Awards Sakura.
