Ecology and sustainability

  • We are committed to an increasingly organic production. One of our objectives for 2025 is to move towards 50% of our production being completely organic, in accordance with EU Regulation No 834/2007 and, in particular, Title III, Chapter 4, which sets out the main requirements for the organic production of foodstuffs.
  • Castell d’Or is certified by the CCPAE (Catalan Council for Organic Agricultural Production) (CCPAE), guaranteeing that our products are produced in a manner that respects the environment and people, restricting the use of synthetic chemical products and offering products free of any traces of these substances.
  • The bottles used for our wines and cavas are 100% recyclable. The properties of this glass enable maximum use to extend the life of the material. AUV green glass is 75% recycled and OAK glass is 88% recycled.
  • Castell d’Or has a photovoltaic plant with 335 solar panels each with a capacity of 545W at its headquarters in Vila-rodona (Alt Camp). These solar panels fitted over 670 m² of the plant’s roof generate 40% of the total energy required by Castell d’Or to carry out its activity, a total of 264,080 kWh per day. This project will prevent an annual emission into the atmosphere of 108 tonnes of CO₂.
  • We want to raise awareness of the natural wealth found throughout our local area. The fauna and flora that live alongside the vines, create a unique biodiversity that extends throughout the various Castell d’Or wineries. We promote the commitment to manage land ecosystems in the most respectful way possible and to protect biodiversity through the cooperatives.
