Castell d’Or’s wines were recognized at the most important Catalonian wine competition Vinari. Not so much known internationally it is extremely important in Catalonia, where 95% of cava producers are situated. The award is very prestigious because almost all the producers participate in the competition and very few wines are finally distinguished with medals.
The tenth edition of the event was organized by the digital newspaper VadeVi. The ceremony was held at the Casal Theater in Vilafranca del Penedès (Barcelona), conducted by the journalist Natza Farré and the humorist Judit Martín. This year’s Gala has recovered its usual pre-covid format. The awards ceremony has been broadcast live on local TV Channel 33.
Award-winning cavas were Cava Cabaret Le Scandale – a new brand successfully launched by Castell d´Or this year – and the Cava Castell d’Or Brut Rosé, which received the Vinari Gran Oro in the Sparkling Rosé category in 2021.
Cava Brut Reserva Le Scandale is a blend of Xarel-lo (40%), Macabeo (30%) and Parellada (30%). It is a Cava that belongs to the category of Cava de Guarda Superior and spends at least 18 months in the bottle where it goes through the second fermentation and stays in contact with lees. It is a very expressive cava, with floral and honey notes, creamy bubbles, and a good aftertaste in the mouth. Inspired by the passion for life and Cabaret.
Cava Castell d’Or Brut Rosé is made by 100% of trepat grape variety, which is an autochthon grape of Catalonia. It grows in the Conca de Barberà region, in the south mountain part of Catalonia. High altitudes give the grape extra freshness and fruitiness. Castell d’Or Brut Rosé is a delicate, fruity, and fresh cava.
