Castell d’Or reinforces its commitment to the region by participating for the fourth consecutive year as one of the main sponsors of the Gran Fiesta de la Calçotada de Valls, which will take place on Sunday, January 26, 2025.
The Valls Chamber of Commerce presented the official image of the festival this morning, accompanied by the other sponsors, Europastry and Salses Fruits, and with the collaboration of the Valls City Council, the IGP Calçot de Valls, and the Valls Agricultural Cooperative.
The Gran Fiesta de la Calçotada is the premier gastronomic event in Catalonia, and Castell d’Or is involved as part of its strong support for local culture and products. As one of the main sponsoring companies, Castell d’Or will have a prominent presence in the promotion of the festival, strengthening its bond with the region and its commitment to values such as quality, tradition, and proximity.
In addition to the official presentation, more details about the program of activities will be revealed in the coming days, including parades, grilled calçot cooking demonstrations, and the popular calçot-eating and sauce-making contests. The popular tasting event is one of the most anticipated moments, with 3,500 tasting bags expected to be distributed, available through pre-sale and also on the day of the festival.
The event was held at the Chamber of Commerce and was attended by the president of the Valls Chamber of Commerce, Josep M. Rovira; the Valls City Council’s tourism councilor, Joan Ibarra; the sponsors of the Gran Fiesta, Salses Fruits’ manager, Francesc Sans; Castell d’Or’s manager, Jordi Amell; Europastry’s plant manager, Albert Llovera; the vice president of IGP Calçot de Valls, Isidre Coll; and the president of the Valls Agricultural Cooperative, Josep M. Aubareda.
In Valls, calçotadas are held from November to April, but the Gran Fiesta de la Calçotada marks the start of the high season for calçotadas. Over the next few days, various activities related to the festival will take place, and the program of traditional events, festivities, and contests related to the world of calçots will be announced: parades, grilled calçot demonstrations, the calçotada market, contests for calçot growers, sauce-making, and calçot-eating competitions, popular tastings, among other activities.
