Castell d’Or Group Wins Two Gold Medals at the Sélections Mondiales des Vins Canada Competition

The Castell d’Or Group has been awarded two gold medals at the latest edition of the Sélections Mondiales des Vins Canada, considered the most important wine competition in North America. The jury, which evaluated more than 1,560 wines from 26 countries, granted gold medals to a cava and a white wine from the DO Penedès: Castell d’Or Cava Brut and Cossetània Vi Blanc.

Award-winning products

The Castell d’Or Cava Brut earned a gold medal, adding to the same recognition received at other international competitions in recent years. This cava is made from Xarel·lo, Macabeu and Parellada grape varieties; it is a highly expressive and aromatic cava, of medium intensity, with notes of orchard fruit such as apple and pear, and an ageing process that brings balance, finesse and personality.

The Cossetània White Wine, also awarded a gold medal, embodies the most authentic essence of its territory. Made exclusively from the Xarel·lo variety, it showcases all the strength and freshness of this emblematic grape from the Penedès region. It is a wine full of character, with aromas of white fruit and floral hints, standing out for its vibrancy and its honest expression of the Mediterranean landscape from which it originates. A wine that reflects the identity and spirit of the land, while reinforcing Castell d’Or’s international ambition.

Corporate statements

Jordi Amell, CEO of Castell d’Or, highlighted this recognition as “a clear indicator of the growing appreciation and understanding of the North American market for cava and wines from our region.” He noted that “the award-winning products are representative of what we produce: wines born from our own vineyards, made from well-rooted native varieties, and crafted with a strong commitment to organic winemaking — increasingly valued by consumers.”
He also emphasized that this achievement “strengthens Castell d’Or’s position as a benchmark brand in the international production of quality wines and cavas.”

A leading award in the North American market

The Sélections Mondiales des Vins competition is the most prestigious wine contest in North America and an international benchmark for the evaluation of wines, sakes, ciders and spirits. In its 2025 edition, more than 1,550 products from 26 countries were presented, consolidating the event as a platform of excellence and recognition for producers worldwide. Despite a challenging economic and climatic context, the quality of the entries demonstrates the producers’ ability for innovation, precision and commitment in crafting wines that reflect authenticity, terroir and craftsmanship.
