Castell d’Or was one of the standout companies at the ninth edition of the Premis Bona Gent Awards, organised by the Diari de Tarragona. This annual event honours individuals and organisations whose work contributes to improving society and the local region. Held at the Teatre Auditori de Salou (TAS), the ceremony brought together over 400 attendees to celebrate the values of solidarity, excellence, and community commitment.
The gala was hosted by Marc Griso, who delivered a dynamic and heartfelt presentation. From the outset, the importance of recognising “good people” was emphasised—those individuals and initiatives who, often working quietly, make a significant contribution to collective well-being. The audience enjoyed several performances, including a musical opening by saxophonist Pep Poblet, which added a warm and elegant touch to the event.
The first institutional speech was delivered by Salou’s mayor, Pere Granados, who highlighted the importance of promoting values such as generosity and respect for diversity. This was followed by an address from the CEO of the Diari, Santiago Batchilleria, who thanked all the nominees and underlined that kindness, beyond success or power, is a revolutionary value that deserves to be celebrated.
Castell d’Or: A commitment to the region
In this context of social values recognition, Castell d’Or received a special mention for its track record as a company dedicated to quality and sustainable development. Collaborating with local cooperatives, Castell d’Or leads initiatives to preserve biodiversity and promote equality. This distinction highlights Castell d’Or’s key role, not only as a producer of prestigious wines and cavas but also as an active participant in advancing the community in the Camp de Tarragona region and beyond.
Emotional moments of the evening
The gala also included particularly emotional moments, such as the posthumous tribute to Kevin Seipp, a German tourist who lost his life while attempting to save a young man from drowning at Tarragona’s Miracle Beach. Seipp’s widow and son accepted the award in a deeply moving scene that touched everyone present.
The Night’s Main Winners
Among the evening’s main winners was the Dignitat a les Vies association, which topped the organisations category with over 44,000 votes. This platform campaigns to improve railway services in the region, a crucial issue for enhancing daily life for local residents. In the individual category, the award went to Lluís Boada, a Psychology student who, despite living with a rare disease causing severe physical challenges, has demonstrated exemplary perseverance.
Other nominees, such as the turtle volunteers and the Fundació Futbol Base Reus, were also recognised during the event, alongside those who placed second and third in their respective categories. Diari director Natàlia Rodríguez presented the honorary award for professional achievement, which this year went to comedian Eva Soriano from Reus. Although unable to attend due to health reasons, Soriano provided one of the most entertaining moments of the evening through a humorous video message of gratitude.
With this event, Castell d’Or reinforces its commitment to values shared with the region: solidarity, community focus, and excellence. This special mention not only acknowledges its contributions to the wine sector but also its dedication to working towards a fairer and more sustainable future for all.
