Last Tuesday, Casa Canals in Tarragona was filled with books, authors, and camaraderie during the presentation of 9 Grup Editorial’s new releases for this year’s Sant Jordi 2025. It’s a special year, as the Day of the Book and the Rose falls on the Tuesday after Easter, which brought forward the group’s traditional author gathering, led by the Cossetània publishing imprint. Castell d’Or had the honor of accompanying the event, toasting to literature alongside attendees and reaffirming, once again, its commitment to culture and the region.

During the event, the group’s director, Jordi Ferré, highlighted the logistical challenge posed this year by the proximity of Sant Jordi to the Easter holidays, as well as the strength of the group’s catalog, which reaches April 23 with nearly 170 titles published. It’s an editorial effort that continues to reflect both ambition and deep roots in the country, offering books for every kind of reader.

Among this year’s major highlights are:

  • From La Garrotxa to Can Putades: When these three friends from La Garrotxa moved to Barcelona to live the dream university life, they never imagined they’d end up as influencers and coworkers.
  • Esmorzar de forquilla, by Albert Molins: An essay on the traditional fork-and-knife breakfast, featuring emblematic recipes and a directory of the best bars and restaurants to enjoy it.
  • Women of Our History: This illustrated book places women at the center of history, offering an innovative perspective that breaks with the patriarchal narrative. Paula Jardón-Giner and Francesc Xavier Hernàndez Cardona have selected over fifty remarkable women who lived in the Valencian, Balearic, and Catalan territories, from Prehistoric times to the mid-20th century.

Other notable titles presented include children’s literature, such as the solidarity book Les margarides blanques by Olga Xirinacs and Pilarín Bayés; the popular Patufet collection; and nature and mountain guides like Orchids of the Prades Mountains and A Beginner’s Guide to Birdwatching. In fiction and essays, new works by authors such as Albert Pijuan, Cristina Canamases, and Enric Pujol were also introduced.

Castell d’Or’s presence at the event reaffirms the group’s desire to stand alongside projects that value creativity, local connection, and homegrown talent. Because culture is also celebrated with a glass in hand.

We toast to great stories. We toast to Sant Jordi.
