A total of 20 restaurants in the municipality will offer a variety of menus made with Bayo rice, paired with Castell d’Or wines and cavas, from March 28 to April 13.
The Salou Hospitality Business Association (AEH Salou) and the Salou City Council presented this morning the fifth edition of the Salou Rice Gastronomic Days at Restaurante Castillo de Javier.
From March 28 to April 13, 20 local restaurants will participate in this well-established initiative, creating high-quality menus featuring Bayo rice, which will be paired with Castell d’Or wines and cavas. The winery represents the union of 16 cooperatives from Catalonia and has been selected for the second year as the Best Winery in Catalonia for the outstanding quality of many of its products.
During the presentation, AEH Salou president Pep Moreno highlighted that “if Salou has one thing as a gastronomic cultural asset, it is the great variety of restaurants it offers. Rice is the link that can unite a sushi restaurant, a Thai, a Spanish, and an Italian one. These were the first gastronomic days ever held, they continue to be a great success, and restaurant owners eagerly look forward to the date when they begin.”
The Councilor for Economic Promotion of the Salou City Council, Hèctor Maiquez, emphasized that “we are pleased to celebrate this event, which is now fully consolidated within Salou’s local gastronomic agenda.” He also added, “since this year, the municipality holds the title of Catalan Cultural Capital, we want to connect gastronomy and oenology with the region’s rich cultural heritage, traditions, and local products.”
Jordi Amell, CEO of Castell d’Or Group, explained that “these gastronomic days also allow us to combine our wine offering with an essential ingredient of our cuisine, such as rice from the ‘Delta del Ebro’.”
Finally, Bayo’s Hospitality Commercial Director, Santos Martínez, stated that “we are a local product; Tarragona province is the third-largest rice-producing area in Spain. Once again, we want Bayo, the hospitality rice par excellence, to be a great success thanks to you.”
The restaurants participating in this fifth edition of the Salou Rice Gastronomic Days are: La Taberna del Áncora, Restaurant Bar “El Morro,” El Racó de Nico, Restaurant Cook & Travel, MRKT Gastrobar, Bufacaldos Restaurant, Malapecora by Bandarrra Restaurant, Thai Salou, Arena Restaurant, 4R Casablanca Restaurant, O Mar Restaurant, Caffé Di Mare, Amaranto, [M] nudo, La Taska Gastrobar, The Terrace at Hills – Infinitum, Tagliatella, Restaurante Castillo de Javier, Morabito, and Deliranto.
