Recognition that comes shortly after the gold medal won at the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles

Vila-rodona, 9 September 2020.- The Castell D’Or group has been awarded a gold medal in the latest Sélections Mondiales des vins Canada, announced by the organisers last weekend. The competition took place in Quebec; where in its 27th edition participation was up by 30%. In total, 2,160 wines were registered, from 33 countries around the world. The cava Castell D’Or Brut was awarded a gold medal, the same award it won in the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles, and other competitions such as the bronze medal won in the Premis Vinari 2020.

This edition consisted of a jury of 60 people from all parts of the Canadian wine industry who conducted the tasting in accordance with the strict health protocol imposed by government authorities. They participated in 144 tasting sessions over four days and gave their scores.

The cava Castell D’Or Brut is made with the varieties Xarel·lo, Macabeu and Parellada. This sparkling wine from the DO Cava is very fresh. In the mouth it is extremely vivacious, highlighted by a pleasant equilibrium and elegance. The aftertaste is fruity, subtly evoking apple, pear and a hint of citric. It is a delicious, well balanced cava with a good, fine bubble structure. Ideal with all types of fish, shellfish and red and white meats, but is also suitable for vegans.

The Director General of Castell D’Or, Jordi Amell, wanted to give thanks for this prize because “the Castell D’Or Cava Brut is very representative of the product we make with a coupage of different varieties characteristic of our land”, he said and added that “this cava has received different awards during this year, which makes us very proud, knowing that a product made by the farmers who are part of our cooperatives has achieved international recognition of such prestige.

Castell D’Or, the union of 13 wineries

Castell D’Or began in 2006 with the union of 13 wineries in different winemaking areas of El Penedès, La Conca de Barberà, Priorat, Tarragona and Montsant. These wineries, with a history spanning more than a hundred years, committed to joining forces and sharing their knowledge on the processes of production, manufacture, packaging and distribution of wines, cavas and oils, raising the quality standards of their products until they achieved recognition and prestige for their brands all over the world.
